Svetlana Agapova was a strong contributing member of the Soviet program during the 1977-1980 Olympic quad. Her most notable accomplishment was winning the 1977 Chunichi Cup at just 13 years old. The Soviets demonstrated a high degree of confidence in Agapova by entering her into competitions such as the American Cup, Champions-All, Chunichi Cup, and the World Cup. Only the European Championships, World Championships, and Olympics were more prestigious. Agapova was a member of the 1978 World Championships team and was the alternate on the 1980 Olympic team. She can frequently be seen celebrating with teammates during the Olympic broadcasts.
